The Campaign


Sky Atlantic wanted to promote their “Fear of Missing Atlantic” campaign, which was advertising 6 of their exclusive dramas; ‘Big Little Lies’, ‘Fortitude’, ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Westworld’, ‘Billions’ and ‘Ray Donovan’. We recommended a Facebook Messenger Bot which would go through a “consultation” with a doctor, who would ask as series of simple questions resulting in a “diagnosis” – or recommendation to watch a particular Sky Atlantic show.


By using images carousels and buttons, users could answer questions on how they feel when they miss an episode of their favourite show, finally concluding the severity of their case of “FOMA”.

How It Worked

Call to action posts on the Sky Atlantic Facebook account and Twitter feed, as well as the Facebook cover-image, all directed fans to start a Facebook Messenger conversation by typing #FOMA. They campaign was entirely automated, with users receiving an instant reply.

The bot runs through 6 fun questions, which incorporate image carousels and simple yes/no button options.

The bot automatically calculates the “severity” of the case of FOMA – from Mild to Critical – and delivers back a video personalised with their name and profile photo within the Facebook bot conversation. This video starts with the personalised “case report” screen indicating what show is being recommended as a prescription, and follows with an advert for that show.

Clicking a “Your Diagnosis” link below the video takes users to a landing page, where their video is hosted and can be shared onward to social media or e-mail contacts.
