The Campaign


Pizza Express worked with EchoMany once again this Halloween to link up their in-restaurant customers with their online presence. This time in collaboration with Whipper Snapper Kids, Pizza Express had activity sheets in-restaurant and content online themed around their child-friendly mystery challenge to discover ‘Who stole the pumpkin doughballs?’.


Entrants in-restaurant submitted their answer to the mystery via a landing page, whilst simultaneously a Conversational Advert was posted to Twitter to spread awareness of the campaign.  All entrants were entered into a competition to win a family weekend in London.

How It Worked

Activity sheets in-restaurant are distributed to child diners, detailing the Mystery of the Stolen Pumpkin Doughballs. Children & their parents could complete the activity sheets and then submit their answer via a landing page.

Simultaneously, a Conversational Advert was posted to the @PizzaExpress Twitter page with a short video detailing the mystery, a link to the landing page, and three buttons that users could click to submit their guess.

All followers responding to the CTA Conversational Ad would then automatically receive a personalised static image in response, which included their name and their choice of suspect.

Along with this personalised reply, users were delivered a link and encouraged to visit the landing page in order to formalise their entry to the competition element of the campaign.
