The Campaign


Our campaign for ‘Trolls’ was our first execution of a Facebook Messenger Bot integration, as well as being multi-territory and multi-language.


The campaign was launched with a Call To Action message, indicating to fans that if they completed a challenge with their Messenger Bot, they would be delivered a personalised video. Sharing this video would then enter them into a competition to win a trip to New York.


The Messenger Bot incorporated the users’ name, profile picture, and their answer to the challenge question into a version of the movie trailer. They would then be informed whether their answer was correct or not, and invited to share their video to enter. They were also provided with a link and information on where they could purchase cinema tickets.

How It Worked


Users launch a Facebook Messenger conversation with Trolls UK and are prompted to answer  the question “are you here to help Poppy and Branch on their adventure?”

An image is delivered of two tunnels. Users are given two button options, “Left Tunnel” or “Right Tunnel” to select which route Branch and Poppy should take back to Troll Town. Clicking the button automatically prompts the EchoMany bot to start rendering a video.

A video is delivered natively within the Messenger Conversation which includes personalisation within the first few frames to increase view-through. This is the users’ Name and Profile picture. The video then shows the users’ choice of Left or Right tunnel, followed by confirmation of whether they answered correctly or incorrectly.

A message then reminds people to share their video in order to enter the competition. Within Messenger, this can be done by forwarding the video – it could also be downloaded and then uploaded back onto Facebook.
